In a statement, Ikale News publisher, Dr. Bolu John Folayan, explained that the non-voting category was established 20 years ago to honour exceptional Ikale citizens and non-Ikale individuals who have made significant contributions to the development of humanity.
The award scheme, which began in 1993 at the University of Lagos, has been held only three times since then to maintain its prestige and quality. The last awards were presented about 18 years ago.
According to Dr. Folayan, this year’s ceremony will take place on Friday, December 27, in Okitipupa. Voting for the 15 different categories will continue until October 30.
