Politicians close ranks, honour Olatubora

The ancient town of Ode-Irele was agog recently when lawyer, politician and community leader, Dr. Remi Olatubora was hosted to a civic reception in recognition of his professional accomplishments. Olatubora last year bagged the prestigious Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and a PhD in Law.


Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN represented by his Deputy, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa led the pack of eminent Nigerians who graced the occasion. Among other dignitaries at the event were, Senator Boluwaji Kunlere, Chief Olusola Oke SAN, former Accountant General of the Federation, J.K Naiyeju, Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Pastor Emmanuel Igbasan, Senator Yele Omogunwa, and ex-chairman of Okitipupa Local Government Council, Pastor Segun Ayerin.


Others included Barrister Morayo Lebi, Omo'ba Jimi Odimayo, Hon Albert Akintoye ( SOT ), Prof F.A Igbasan, Daisi Omokungbe, Member of Board, Pool Betting and Lotteries, Sayo Ogunmade, Hon Iwalewa Afolabi and others.


The Deputy Governor described Olatubora as a man with the gift of strong and courageous character. and commended Irele Local Government under the leadership of Barrister Olusegun Ajimotokin for celebrating “a man who rose from grass to grace”.


In his reaction, Dr. Olatubora, a former commissioner in several ministries in Ondo State, thanked Almighty God for granting him the grace to accomplish the feats, which he described as his childhood ambition. 


He thanked the leadership of the local government for organizing the reception.

Dr Remi Peter Olatubora, SAN graduated from the University of Lagos Nigeria in 1992 with Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) Hons. degree. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1993 after having successfully completed his Barrister-at-Law (BL) programme at the Nigerian Law School, Lagos. He had his National Your Service with the defunct Allied Bank Ltd, Lagos in 1994. He started his early law practice in Lagos until he was elected to Ondo State House of Assembly, Nigeria in 1999.


He served as a member and Chief Whip of the Ondo State House of Assembly (Parliament) between 1999 and 2003. In 2006, he obtained his Master of Laws (LL.M) degree from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria. In 2017, he successfully completed his Master of Philosophy (M. Phil.) of Law degree in Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria. In 2019, he carried out his Ph.D field study at the International Criminal Court at The Hague, Netherlands. He successfully defended his Ph.D thesis at the Faculty of Law, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State on the 23rd day of March, 2021.
